That red player was at some point in time green

The gambling industry needs to find ways to work proactively with all players regardless of their risk level.

That was the take home message when Christofer Hagstedt, Chief Business Area Manager for Safer Gambling at Sustainable Interaction, spoke at the Fair and Responsible Gaming conference hosted by William Hill Latvia and the Latvian Football Federation in Riga.

There is always some level of risk involved in gambling, and we know that the path to problem gambling looks pretty much the same for all players. And that that red player was once green.

To effectively prevent problem gambling we need to work proactively by communicating with all players in a way that makes sense to them.

To address this challenge, Christofer highlighted a stepwise approach to the Duty of Care, using different methods and communication approaches depending on which segment of players you want to communicate with.

He also presented a helpful overview of research-based responsible gambling measures and explained how the measures align with different risk levels. In short, what works for whom and when.
